“Connecting the trail, through the IUP campus, to town”
The project included the design of a 5-mile on-road bike route connecting the Hoodlebug Trail through the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus and into downtown Indiana.
Preliminary engineering plans included the evaluation of alternatives, and the design for multi-modal hub stations (bus-bike-car transfer stations).
The project included designing bike lanes, shared lane markings & signs for wayfinding and safety, and developing construction cost estimates and priority phasing for implementation.
The bicycle infrastructure, including repaving roadways, modifications to traffic signals, and the construction of bike lanes and ADA compliant sidewalks and crossings cost $2 million.
