The abandoned high school football stadium was demolished to make room for a riverfront community park. Mackin compete the master plan through a series of meetings with the Borough steering committee and the Mon Valley Alliance. The plan included stakeholder interviews, public and agency meetings, and complying with PA DCNR standards for master planning and mapping. The park master plan includes an improved and larger boat launch, marina development, riverfront walks and overlooks at the Monongahela River, community connections to city streets, to riverfront trails, and connections to other park sites. Other improvements include community gathering and open space, amphitheater space, play courts, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, winter ice skating, artwork and sculptures, lighting and a boat house/community center building. As Project Manager, Mr. Genter’s responsibilities included site design, public engagement, agency coordination, public and municipal meetings, and final document production. The project was completed November 2018.
