The project involved the replacement of a 203’ long pin-connected Pennsylvania Truss. The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office
(PA SHPO) determined the Cambridge Springs Truss Bridge to be eligible for listing in the National Register for Historic Places (NRHP).
MACKIN authored a Historic Bridge Rehabilitation Analysis (HBRA). The HBRA concluded that the Cambridge Springs Truss Bridge could
not be rehabilitated Also, during Preliminary Engineering, a Biological Assessment concluded that there were six species of endangered
mussels present within the project limits. These mussels were translocated prior to construction. The replacement bridge is a two-span
continuous (105’-105’) P/S Concrete Bulb-Tee Beam bridge with type 10M barriers, architectural surface treatment.
